The chinese Yun Yi Qin wins the 50th edition of the International "Jaén" Piano Contest
This pianist is the first of his nationality to win this award, and has also won the audience award with only 16 years old
(Noticiascadadía).- The Chinese pianist, Yun Yi Qin has been the winner of the 50th edition of the International “Jaén” Piano Contest, organised by the Diputación Provincial de Jaén, during the 3rd and the 11th of April. The young player was born in China and will swell his record with this award, although she has already won the “Citta de Barletta” (2006) and the IX International “José Roca” award.
The jury has decided he deserves this award because of his interpretation of the concert for piano and orchestra in A minor op. 54 by Shumann. The price consists on 25,000 euro, a diploma and also the chance of performing in the Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País and the making of a record with the label Naxos, as well as a golden medal.
The player has also been awarded with the “Rosa Sabater” award, consisting on 6,000 euro, and the “Audience” award. The last one is given by the 800 people assisting to the concert.
The record of the contest has been completed by the second award, Olga Kozlova and the third, the Serbian Stefan Ciric. The Russian musician played the concert for piano and orchestra in Mi falt major number 1 of Liszt and has won 12,000 euro and the Serbian won 8,000 with the interpretation of the concert for piano and orchestra number 27 in B flat mayor, K595 of Mozart. Olga Kozlova has also won the “Contemporary Music Award”, given to the best performance of the mandatory work, Jaén 2008, composed by Claudio Prieto, and will recieve 6,000 euro.
The Simphonic Orchestra of Seville, under the direction of Juan Luis Pérez, has accompained the three players in the final. The ceremony was presided by Gaspar Zarrías, member on board of the Junta de Andalucía. With him were the president of the Diputación Provincial de Jaén, Felipe López, the delegate for Cuture and Sports, María Angustias Velasco, and the council of Culture of the Ayuntamiento de Jaén, José Montané.
